1. It created a system that generates insightful reports and visualizations about medical conditions on a regular schedule and on demand. Business intelligence or BI systems were designed to extract, or mine, useful information out of the data collected by businesses or organizations into databases. That data may consist of detailed patient symptom information collected at the time of an examination. Doctors knew that about 6 percent of patients complain of flu-like symptoms onany given day. When the EMA BI system reported that 30 percent of patients were arriving with flu symptoms, the doctors warned the country that H1N1 was on the move. This alert provided medical professionals and citizens the time needed to take action. The EMA BI system helped them detect the outbreak based on the information that was gathered by system.
2. The human intelligence feeds the machine intelligence with data. The machine intelligence then manipulates and sorts the necessary information needed that will be processed by the EMA BI system which is designed to extract or mine useful information out of the data collected. From then, the users sees the reports and from it they make critical conclusions and judgement based on the information that is given to them by the EMA BI system whether to confirm if there is an outbreak or a false alarm.
